CYPRUS 2019

This summer Lewis and I were meant to Greece, a holiday we had booked for over a year with none other than the people's favourite ... THOMAS COOK. We were meant to fly out on Monday 23rd, yep the day they went bust.

So, instead of jetting off on our luxury holiday we were off to TUI to book something else and that something else ended up being Cyprus.

Cyprus- The holiday destination for the newly weds and nearly deads!

Like my previously holiday reviews and recommendations i will break down my trip based on the hotel, things to do, and places to eat.

Hotel: Avanti Hotel Paphos
The Avanti Hotel is a 4 star hotel, the main attraction of this hotel is it's pool (specifically it's swim up pool bar). The hotel staff were faultless with hotel activities such as Zumba, water polo, volleyball, archery and evening entertainment provided throughout. My only criticism for this hotel is the buffet breakfast which was extremely average and we in fact only went twice out of the 10 days we were there because quite frankly, it was not worth getting out of bed for. However, the pool bar had one good item which was the tuna pitta which was enough to feed two people and we honestly had this about 6 times whilst we were there.
For a visual of the hotel and the rooms please check out my YouTube video which includes a full room and hotel tour.

Things to do:
Old Town
The old town in Paphos has one gem, the Omikron Brunch cafe. Other than this, although beautiful, it is a ghost town. We expected to have a day trip to the old town and do some exploring but truth be told we were there for all of an hour and that was spent eating pancakes.
The main attractions in Paphos seem to be glass bottom boat cruises, quad biking safaris and going to the old town. This holiday destination is more for the those who want to relax then those who want to explore.

Places to eat:
Omikron Brunch 10/10
If you ever go Cyprus you HAVE TO GO HERE! We went twice in the time we stayed and both times were amazing. The first time we had 'The perfect need' which consists of sourdough bread with avocado, halloumi, bacon, syrup, poached eggs and cherry tomatoes. To share we had red velvet pancakes with white chocolate sauce and walnuts.

The second time we went i had an egg and bacon bagel and Lewis had the 'ultimate' being a Cypriot fry up. One thing we noticed, which is always a good sign, is so many locals came here which shows how popular it is not only with tourists but locals too.

The Secret Garden 8/10
This restaurant is in the most beautiful setting being in a courtyard filled with trees and fairy lights. We were recommended this restaurant by another couple in our hotel and they were not wrong, this place is stunning. We had the lamb shank for main and the meat just fell off the bone, faultless! Also, the cheesecake is a showstopper, although not the type of cheesecake we know, it is whipped and mousse-like.

Ta Mpavia 7/10
This is the first restaurant you come to on the harbour and is ALWAYS busy! We had our first and one of our last evening meals here. It has a good atmosphere, music, food and views. The first night we had a meat platter for two, the second time was the pork souvlaki. If you come here you have to try the olives and another thing to mention is this place is also full of locals!

Theos 7/10
At the end of the harbour is Theos which is a seafood restaurant and both times we went here i had the seafood spaghetti (to me this is the epitome of holiday food) so delicious and simple.

Overall, i would rate Cyprus a 8/10 as a holiday destination as the weather is great even in September, and you can never have a bad meal!!
