How i'm staying sane during Isolation

It's very easy to feel down in the dumps during isolation. Seeing the same four walls, the same people (or potentially no one) and wonder when life will go back to 'normal'.

In the meantime, it's important to remain calm and try to remain positive. How I've been staying sane during isolation is by practising mindfulness. Mindfulness means "maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment"

Trying to be present, grateful and positive can be the difference between feeling like your drowning, to keeping your head above the water. The different ways i have been mindful are:

Yoga
Yoga is so much more than 'tree pose'. It's a way for you to be present, being aware of your breath and for your body to stretch and condition. It can be 10 minutes of taking time for yourself and not aimlessly scrolling through social media. I've just completed a 30 day at home yoga playlist on YouTube and i can honestly say i've loved it. Not only have i been purposely putting time aside for myself each day but it gives me a routine and excising my mind and body each day.

Meditation
Meditation can be as simple as closing your eyes for 2 minutes and take deep and full breathes and being aware of how you feel in the moment. Meditation can also be listening to a 10 minute meditation podcast or YouTube video. Or, meditation can be lying in the bath for an hour and listening to calming music. Meditating can be whatever you want it to be. For me, it's 10 minutes at the end of each day where i dedicate time to relax, take in the day, how i feel and what i'm grateful for.

Positive Affirmations
Positive affirmations are more powerful than you could imagine. They can change your mindset, your life and way of life. It is easy to think 'I AM useless', or 'I AM lazy', 'IM not capable', but you are in charge of your own life. Only YOU can change your life and you have the power to do ANYTHING you put your mind to.

Putting aside time for yourself, being mindful and taking care of YOU is the most important thing during isolation.

Keep Safe. Stay Home. Be Mindful.
