What being Quarantined has taught me

8 things being isolated has taught me

  • To slow down
Before corna happened life was going 100mph, a new job, new car, new life. I was getting carried away with so much newness and slightly overwhelmed with everything i was doing but was really enjoying it all at the same time. However, this time has taught me that maybe we all needed to slow down a little bit and remind ourselves what is really important.

  • Removing all distractions - see what really matters
By removing work, socialising, the ability to be busy and get distracted has allowed me to realise that once everything i would consume myself with has been removed, your left with just yourself. For some people that can be quite scary, but for me i realised that i'm quite happy, even if my holiday was cancelled and my new job has been paused. I'm still happy!

  • Need to be more active
I've realised just how important it is to go outside! Being inside all day can rapidly decrease your mental health. The simple things such as going outside for a walk, working out in the sun and being active is so good for my mental and physical health to feel the sun on me and have a change of scenery.

  • Take life for granted
The ability to just pop out, be spontaneous and look forward to things and have a routine and a purpose has seriously been taken for granted. To go and see family whenever i wanted and now can't has made me realise just how much we were able to do, to go to the supermarket and go to town and grab a coffee, now seems such a luxury.
  • Mental health
Now more than ever it is SO important to check in on people. Making sure they're ok, how isolation (which people deal with everyday, not just because of corna) can be so damaging. Opening your eyes to the fact being socially isolated can be so damaging and communities coming together to support one another is a necessity.
  • Simple things make me happy
Like I've already stated, just going for a walk in the sun or putting make up on and having a shower can brighten your day. Being silly and finding things that i enjoy such as making TikToks or watching YouTube or just messing around, being unapologetically childish because i can.
  • Never saying no to going to the pub again!
Say no more. As soon as we're out of this... it's G+T (although i prefer lemonade) time!!!
