GREECE 2017

My trip to Sissi (pronounced See-See), in Crete was first and foremost BLISS.
I would recommend this small fishing village to those who are looking for a laid back, relaxing holiday. Although laid back, it had some fantastic attractions and entertainment that i found to pull me back day after day, night after night.

I will break down my trip and reviews based on the hotel, things to do, and places to eat.

Hotel: The Maritimo Beach Hotel
We were given this after we arrived at the hotel at 1am

The only downside to the room was this broken drainage cover which made us cringe when your toe fallen down it by accident.

This was the view from our hotel

WE HAVE A FULL ROOM TOUR ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL: Lew and Char Travel

Things to do
Jolly Roger
The Jolly Roger is the Number 1 English bar in Sissi and you can understand why. From the famous quiz nights to the live music and English sport showing. This bar has welcoming hosts and Sunset views- 100% recommend.

Peggy Gordon's Irish Bar
Although not directly on the harbor, this Irish bar has excellent live music and an open mic approach which showcased many nationalities coming together making music. This bar has a friendly and relaxed vibe in the middle of the village.

Sissi Mini Golf
During the day we came to do mini golf (although many people do it at night due to the heat), there is also snooker tables, air hockey and a sunset bar opposite this picture. We LOVED the sunset bar as it was shaded, opposite the sea and a slight breeze whilst reading and enjoying a Frappe.
Would recommend day or night (fantastic owners too, extremely welcoming)

Where to eat:
Remezzo
Although our hotel was Half Board, this restaurant drawn us in 2/7 nights with their Greek Charm and exquisite food!!
They also provided us with complimentary bread when we sat down with the most amazing garlic butter and black olive paste AND home made coconut ice cream with chocolate sauce and gram crackers. DELICIOUS!

Not to mention the view of the harbor, sunset and sea is breathtaking from the restaurant.

Co. Bar

This stunning sea-side style bar had moreish desserts and views being on the harbor front.

STAM STAM Gyros Shop
When in Greece- if you haven't tried Gyros before YOU MUST!! It is the most amazing bundle of warm comforting goodness that you cant compare to any kebabs back home. I had 2 whilst i was there and wished i had more.

This destination is ideal for young families, young couples first holidays together and retired folk as this little fishing village offers a scenic relaxation holiday.

Here are some of the other things offered by Sissi that we were unable to do before we left:
  • Jeep Safari
  • Freeman Boat trip to a secluded island (advertised by the Irish Bar but the boat filter broken when we went so unable to show go that day) with a BBQ lunch and snookering in the crystal clear sea.
  • Hiring Quad bikes
  • Day trips to Santorini (although one of the locals advised us to save our money and visit over a long weekend to really take it in)
